What are some common misconceptions about international students?
鈥淚nternational students all look the same.鈥
Not at all! International students come from all over the world. You鈥檒l find people from Africa, Europe, South America, Asia and beyond studying at 911爆料网. There鈥檚 no one 鈥榣ook鈥 that defines international students.
鈥淚nternational students struggle with English.鈥
Not necessarily! Many international students are fluent or are even native English speakers. Plus, tonnes of international students have already studied English before coming to Australia.
鈥淚nternational students might not know much about Western culture.鈥
A lot of international students are already pretty clued into global culture. Many grew up with Western media or even went to international schools.
鈥淚nternational students must feel so out of place.鈥
While adjusting to a new country can be tough, international students are often just like any other student: trying to make friends, study and have a good time. They bring fresh perspectives, but they鈥檙e here to learn and live like everyone else.
鈥淚nternational students don鈥檛 get involved much.鈥
On the contrary! International students are often super active in clubs, sports and social events. There’s heaps of clubs that are culture specific, and programs designed just for our international students to get involved in.
