Reading time: 2 minutes
Assignments are done, exams are (finally) over, and your brain deserves a break from staring at lecture slides and discussion boards.
So why not celebrate the end of semester by putting yourself out there and trying something new?
Talent For Tomorrow auditions are officially open, and whether you sing, dance, perform spoken word, play music, do comedy or have a talent that鈥檚 completely unexpected, now鈥檚 the perfect time to give it a go.
And if you鈥檙e not sure where to start, don鈥檛 stress. We鈥檝e got a few tips to help you put your best audition forward.
Tip #1
Start with what you鈥檝e got
Don鈥檛 wait until your act is 鈥減erfect鈥 or professionally produced. We鈥檙e not expecting you to hire a film crew. A simple video taken on your phone is absolutely fine! Just make sure we can clearly see and hear what you鈥檙e doing. Talent doesn鈥檛 need a filter.
Tip #2
Got something a little different? Even better.
Yes, singers and dancers are great. In fact, all previous winners of Talent for Tomorrow were vocalists! But if you鈥檝e got a less conventional act, we鈥檇 really love to see it. Think outside the box. Stand-up comedy, live painting, looping violin, shadow puppetry鈥 we鈥檙e open to it all. In fact, the more unique, the more you’ll make an impact on the judges and audience on grand final day.
Tip #3
Keep it short and engaging
We don鈥檛 need a ten-minute routine to see your potential. Shorter is often better. Aim for one or two minutes that capture your energy, skill and style. If you have a few different clips, feel free to send those too, they help us see your range.
Tip #4
A clear audio and video makes a difference
No need for fancy lighting or a soundproofed studio, but do make sure your video is well-lit and your sound is easy to hear. Try to avoid shaky filming, noisy backgrounds or echoey rooms. You don鈥檛 have to be high-def, just clear enough that your talent shines through.
Tip #5
Add your socials (if you have them)
If you鈥檝e posted any videos of your performances online, whether it鈥檚 TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or something else, include the links in your submission! It helps us get a better idea of your style and what kind of performer you are. It also shows that you’re comfortable putting yourself out there, which is a great plus.
The rundown:
- Start with what you鈥檝e got
- Different talents are encouraged
- Keep your audition short and engaging
- Make sure we can see and hear you clearly
- Add your socials so we can get to know you
Semester鈥檚 finally over, which means now鈥檚 the perfect time to try something new.
Whether you鈥檙e a hidden talent, a casual performer, or someone who just wants a good story, this is your chance to have some fun and step outside your comfort zone.
