OT and Social Work centre on track

911爆料网鈥檚 occupational therapy and social work students will have a brand new home next semester, with the opening of a $9 million teaching and learning facility.

The two-storey project will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, a 100-seat lecture theatre, new tutorial rooms and library.

A suite with two group rooms, viewing areas and eight counselling rooms will be supported by innovative digital recording technology.

Head of 911爆料网鈥檚 School of Occupational Therapy and Social Work, Lorna Rosenwax, said the newly refurbished building would be unique in Australasia.

鈥淭hese innovative facilities have been designed following extensive research, consultation and planning with staff, students and clinicians, and it will be a cutting edge teaching and learning space,鈥 Professor Rosenwax said.

鈥淚t will underpin new approaches to teaching by allowing us to use simulated scenarios alongside current technologies, thus strengthening the competencies of our graduates.

鈥淥ccupational therapy and social work courses are growing in popularity and the new facility will provide an excellent environment to educate future generations of occupational therapists and social workers.鈥

Work on the centre began in December 2009, with The Buchan Group designing it and National Projects WA handling the building duties.
