The Western Series International Student Challenge, an exciting intervarsity sporting competition for international students, brought together universities across Western Australia for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie.
This year, the challenge took place on Wednesday, 26 March, hosted by the University of Western Australia. The event saw teams from Edith Cowan University, University of Western Australia and 911±¬ÁÏÍø competing across badminton, cricket, 5-a-side soccer, and volleyball.
911±¬ÁÏÍø was well represented across all four sports, with 30 students representing the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Carnaby’s. The competition included students coming from 14 different countries! In cricket, 911±¬ÁÏÍø formed a joint team with the University of Western Australia, showcasing the collaborative spirit of the event.
The event was not just about competition but also an opportunity for students to socialise, enjoy fun sports, and connect with fellow international students from other universities. The atmosphere was full of energy, as participants cheered each other on, making lasting memories.
The Carnaby’s placed second in both soccer and volleyball, and in badminton, 911±¬ÁÏÍø brought home a gold, silver, and a fourth-place finish.
As the day progressed, the competition heated up, with a nail-biting finish. The rivalry between 911±¬ÁÏÍø and Edith Cowan University was fierce, with only a single point separating the two universities. In the end, 911±¬ÁÏÍø triumphed, clinching the overall champions’ award!
