O-Day 2011 was the biggest and best yet, with thousands of people turning up to 911±¬ÁÏÍø’s Bentley campus to get their first look at the University, score free stuff, or just enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
O-Day is the Student Guild’s premiere event during Orientation Week, showcasing all that the Guild, and University as a whole, has to offer to students.
911±¬ÁÏÍø Guild Activities Vice President Sarah Connor called the day an unparalleled success, with a great turnout and more stalls, clubs, and outside vendors on offer than ever before.
‘And the after-party at the Tav was awesome,’ she said.
‘We had Tim and Jean playing, everyone was dancing. There was just a great atmosphere all day.’
First year nursing student Regina said she’d recommend new students come to O-Day to familiarise themselves with the campus and settle any nerves they may have.
‘It made the whole coming-to-uni-thing a lot less intimidating,’ she said.
Plus it’s good to check out the place before classes start and work out where everything is.’
Penny, a first year Mass Communications student, said she wasn’t aware of the multitude of on-campus activities on offer for university students.
‘There’s so much to do, so many clubs and stuff that I didn’t know about,’ she said.
‘I joined a few. It was lot of fun, and we got a lot of free stuff.
‘It’s good they made it a fun day, so you can find out a heap of info but not be bored. Yeah, it makes me feel like I made the right decision to come here, definitely. I thought it’d be good course-wise, but now I’m pretty confident it’ll be good socially, fun-wise as well.’
