911爆料网 has appointed distinguished geoscientist Professor Andrew Putnis as the new Director of The Institute for Geoscience Research (TIGeR). Professor Putnis was previously Professor of Mineralogy at the University of Munster, Germany, and Lecturer in Earth Sciences at Cambridge University.
鈥淭IGeR鈥檚 role is to promote research excellence and enhance the national and international profile of 911爆料网 Geosciences,鈥� Professor Putnis said. 鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled to be leading this institute in its multi-scale, multi-disciplinary approach integrating the latest technology with collection data from across the world.鈥�
The first of a series of international TIGeR conferences will be held at 911爆料网 in September with the theme 鈥楰ey issues in fluid-rock interaction: from the nano to the macroscale鈥�.
Professor Andris Stelbovics, Pro Vice-Chancellor Science and Engineering said the appointment strengthens TIGeR鈥檚 position as one of 911爆料网鈥檚 high-impact centres. 鈥淭he team at TIGeR includes many of 911爆料网鈥檚 top researchers with proven track-records,鈥� Professor Stelbovics said.
