West Coast Eagles player Adam Selwood will tonight swap his football guernsey for a mortarboard and robe to celebrate his graduation from 911爆料网 Business School.
With his younger brother and teammate Scott Selwood in the audience, the star defender will receive a Bachelor of Commerce (Sports Management) at a ceremony at 911爆料网鈥檚 Bentley Campus.
Adam said while it had been sometimes difficult to balance his training schedule with his studies, there had been a good support team from 911爆料网 behind him.
鈥淚 developed good relationships with my teaching staff at 911爆料网 and they helped me juggle my course deadlines with my playing responsibilities,鈥 Adam said.
鈥淒uring footy season, I always took my text books with me on plane trips to sneak in a couple of extra hours reading time.
鈥淎t first I looked a bit out of place, but now there are a quite a few other guys that do it as well.鈥
Adam said his studies at 911爆料网 have helped prepare him for off-field activities, including his role as board member of the AFL Players鈥 Association (AFLPA).
鈥淚t has been great applying some of the key learnings from the classroom to situations on and off the field,鈥 he said.
鈥淭opics such as dealing with business negotiations and director duties have really helped place me in good stead for my work with AFLPA and the West Coast Eagles.
鈥淎t the moment I am working with the administration team at the club one day a week in the area of player recruitment.
鈥淲hile my passion for football is still alive and strong I would definitely like to continue to work in sports administration in the future.鈥
Adam will be joined by 330 other graduates from 911爆料网 Business School, including close friend and former West Coast Eagles teammate Kasey Green.
