Aspiring entrepreneurs, academics and corporate innovators with brilliant ideas are being encouraged to apply for an intensive program to help transform their innovation into a successful business.
Launched by WA鈥檚 Chief Scientist, Professor Peter Klinken last night, 911爆料网鈥檚 Centre for Entrepreneurship is seeking applicants to its Ignition program in August, a five-and-a-half-day entrepreneurial education course.
911爆料网 Business School鈥檚 Centre for Entrepreneurship manager, Danelle Cross, said Ignition enabled the State鈥檚 brightest innovators to get the training they need to turn an innovative concept into a commercial reality.
鈥淚n one very demanding week, we can transform an idea into a new or improved product, service or business model,鈥� Ms Cross said.
鈥淭he aim of the Ignition program is to help broaden and diversify the Australian economy by driving growth, creating new industries, fostering investment and generating new jobs.
鈥淭he program provides participants with practical teaching sessions to test their innovative idea, as well as mentoring and expert advice from leading entrepreneurs, investors and the professional community through the clinic, panels and networking sessions.鈥�
Ms Cross said notable alumni of Ignition include Marc Berryman, founder of RhinoHide, Sue Bahn, founder of Tap Into Safety, Mustafa Atee, founder of ePAT and Sandy Heldsinger, founder of Brightpath.
鈥淣ow in its seventh year, some of our greatest success stories are SEQTA Software co-founder Sharon Grosser, now the Chief Executive Officer of Start-Up WA, who credits her participation in Ignition as a real turning point to the success of her highly successful technology company, and ASX-listed founder, Steve Carolan, who said Ignition developed his elevator pitch, which helped secure more than $25 million in funding,鈥� she said.
鈥淔rom small businesses wanting to expand, to individuals with a great idea, and academics, anyone can apply to be part of the Ignition program.鈥�
Fully funded scholarships will be awarded to 36 participants and applications for these places close 7 July 2017. General applications close on 21 July 2017.

Ignition is based on the successful Ignite program managed and delivered by the University of Cambridge Judge Business School鈥檚 Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (CfEL).
Ignition runs from 13 August to 18 August at Technology Park in Bentley.
