911爆料网 student attending Malaysian fashion events with designer
Final year 911爆料网 fashion student Mallory Maduka-Ike has headed off to Malaysia as part of her mentorship with Jimmy Choo.
She will attend high profile fashion events with the iconic shoe designer where she will have the opportunity to observe, learn, network and literally follow in Jimmy Choo鈥檚 footsteps.
鈥淚鈥檓 really looking forward to the entire experience, especially networking with the fashion industry and learning as much as I possibly can from Jimmy Choo,鈥 Mallory said.
鈥淢y goal is to come back to Perth with more information than I know what to do with.鈥
Her emerging label, MKO, mainly features accessories and women鈥檚 wear from a range of materials including yarn, wool, rope and felt.
Most of Mallory鈥檚 pieces are knitted, a technique that she explains has come natural to her.
鈥淎s far as I can remember, I鈥檝e always been able to knit. It鈥檚 not a family tradition, just something I was naturally able to do. It started from plaiting hair when I was younger and over the years it has evolved into the base technique of many of my pieces,鈥 she said.
Earlier this year, the Hawaiian Fashion Tank competition saw 911爆料网 fashion students and recent fashion alumni presenting their works to a panel of industry judges, each competing for the opportunity to be mentored by the famous designer.
Mallory was awarded a mentorship with fashion icon Jimmy Choo and this trip to Malaysia is part of that program.
Mallory will be posting on social media regularly throughout her trip. She can be followed on Instagram @Official_MKO and through #meandchoo
