The Department of Commerce and the Small Business Development Corporation have signed on for the third time as main sponsors for 911爆料网鈥檚 Ignition entrepreneurship and innovation initiative.
Information and Communications Technology company Amcom has also been announced as the industry sponsor, further cementing the value that the Ignition program provides to innovative businesses.
With the program in its third year and participation rates steadily increasing, Program Director Jane Garrett said the addition of major sponsors was a further boost to emerging entrepreneurs.
鈥淲e are thrilled to have large industry and government bodies recognising the worth this program provides to participants,鈥� Ms Garrett said.
鈥淭he program features a who鈥檚 who of everyone and anyone in the start-up, investment and innovation community in Perth and Western Australia. This is reflected by the quality and overwhelming number of applicants we receive and the awards some of the program鈥檚 alumni have achieved.鈥�
Graduates from past programs have gone on to national recognition in their fields, including Sharon Grosser, Operations Director at SEQTA, an education management system provider.
鈥淎fter attending the program I went on to win national awards and will be representing Australia at The Asia Pacific Information and Communications Technology Awards. I attribute part of this success to my participation in the Ignition program,鈥� Ms Grosser said.
鈥淚t is vitally important that emerging entrepreneurs be given access to leaders in this field and the Ignition program allowed me to do just that, in an intensive course environment.鈥�
Other past success stories include the founders of Bombora Wave Power and 911爆料网 academic Professor Moyez Jiwa, whose health innovations include a 鈥淔uture Me鈥� anti-obesity app that is currently being commercialised.
