Tourism & Hospitality Management and Geography Double Degree student Jonathan answers five questions about how he鈥檚 handling his time in isolation.
- What does your home study area look like?
鈥淢y home study is actually my old bedroom. I have my laptop connected to a 24ish inch monitor which is absolutely essential for me. We just got the Google Home which has really boosted the Wi-Fi connection throughout the house! I鈥檇 definitely recommend it. I have a desk lamp and a double floor lamp for all of the lighting. I also have my plant Audrey II and I鈥檓 often accompanied by my cockatiel, Paco.鈥
- How do you try to avoid study distractions?
鈥淚 set certain times for studying and have breaks at fairly regular intervals. When I鈥檓 doing assignments, I break them down into what I know I will be able to write without taking a break, and sections where I might have trouble writing. The latter will have shorter working times and shorter breaks and the former will have longer working times and longer breaks. Works for me!
- What is your go-to quarantine snack?
鈥淕rapes. We don鈥檛 have a lot of junk food in the house, but we do have grapes! No, I will not be sharing any at this time.鈥
- What is something you won鈥檛 forget about this time?
鈥淭he sense of community. I鈥檓 not sure if I鈥檓 the only one who has noticed this, but everyone seems more connected now, in social-isolation, than we did before. It鈥檚 a weird concept, but I鈥檓 here for it!鈥
- What do you miss about uni life?
鈥淎ngazi fries, cheer training, rowing, Angazi fries, seeing my friends at The Tav, studying at the library, Angazi fries, my Geography lecturer and tutor, my Tourism tutor, Angazi fries, and the hammock hotel!鈥
