911±¬ÁÏÍønovation Awards celebrate world-leading innovators"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A pioneering gene therapy formulation to restore vision in children, a predictive tool to optimise patient recovery from radiotherapy, and novel food packaging made from abalone are among the 16 finalists in the running for the 2024 911±¬ÁÏÍønovation Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual awards recognise and celebrate the development of new innovations through research, study, work, or partnership at 911±¬ÁÏÍø that will have a positive impact on society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>911±¬ÁÏÍø Commercialisation Executive Director Rohan McDougall congratulated the finalists who represent a wealth of research collaborations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFrom innovations in health care to smart technology for the mining sector, the standard of finalists is impressive with the 2024 911±¬ÁÏÍønovation Awards recognising another outstanding field of innovators,\u201d Mr McDougall said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow in their 17<sup>th<\/sup> year, the 911±¬ÁÏÍønovation Awards continue to support the next generation of entrepreneurial thinkers developing brilliant products and services to solve real-world challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previous winners have gone on to form successful businesses from their innovations including ClimateClever who help schools reduce their carbon footprint and save money via their novel data-driven app; Vetchip, a biotech company whose health monitoring systems are improving animal welfare; and Earflo, who have created a device that saves children with chronic ear infections from surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s finalists are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eye drops delivering gene therapy to restore vision in children with Usher syndrome;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A tool predicting the response of patients to chemotherapy prior to the start of treatment;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An imaging technique improving patient recovery from radiotherapy by predicting healing trajectories;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An Australian designed spacecraft thruster enabling small satellites to affordably achieve higher orbits and longer missions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Technology to help the mining industry automate production drilling processes for maximum efficiency;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A tool to reduce mineral exploration risk and audit resource origins using statistics and artificial intelligence;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A two-sided marketplace connecting property owners with trusted construction experts;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An AI-enhanced stethoscope designed to improve early detection of heart valve disease;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Software that uses facial landmark tracking and detection to aid speech pathologists in diagnosing speech sound disorders in children;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A digital AI-powered platform helping workshop facilitators record and report group discussions automatically;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An AI chatbot streamlining support for university students reducing the need for direct input from staff;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2018Healthy Connections\u2019, a mobile medical kit providing preventative health screenings in Pilbara communities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A virtual reality educational program designed to inspire children to engage with their Noongar culture and language;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new sustainable type of food packaging for manufacturers incorporating waste from abalone processing;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An interactive experience to help parents and educators safely build children\u2019s digital literacy and skills;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An auto-optimisation technology transforming the way maintenance planners build their shutdown schedules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalists will have the chance to promote
