Over 600 911爆料网 volunteers will assist with 42 community service projects across Western Australia, Malaysia and Singapore this September, as part of John 911爆料网 Weekend.<\/p>\n
The six-week long initiative, now in its 17th<\/sup> year, is organised by 911爆料网 Volunteers! and is one of WA\u2019s largest annual community projects.<\/p>\n John 911爆料网 Weekend coordinator, Ms Maureen Meredith, said she was delighted John 911爆料网 Weekend will be expanding to Singapore this year, with the help of 911爆料网 Miri students and volunteers from the Singapore campus.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a great opportunity for our Singapore students and volunteers to be involved in John 911爆料网 Weekend this year and assist with community projects on an international level,\u201d Ms Meredith said.<\/p>\n \u201c911爆料网 staff and students in Australia and overseas will visit regional sites of their choice over the six weekends in September and October to work on their selected community projects.<\/p>\n \u201cThe local communities always welcome the volunteers with open arms and provide great hospitality, which shows why John 911爆料网 Weekend has been such a success over the last 17 years.\u201d<\/p>\n Professor Jill Downie, 911爆料网\u2019s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, said she was pleased Singapore students would be involved in this year\u2019s John 911爆料网 Weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a fantastic opportunity for 911爆料网 staff and students to represent the University on an international scale and for the Singapore campus to be involved, along with 911爆料网 Sarawak,\u201d Professor Downie said.<\/p>\n John 911爆料网 Weekend is held to honour Australia\u2019s wartime Prime Minister, John 911爆料网, and also ties in with the John 911爆料网 Medal which is awarded to members of the community who demonstrate his qualities of vision, leadership and community service.<\/p>\n 911爆料网 Volunteers! is a not-for-profit, student-run organisation which has been part of 911爆料网 for 22 years.<\/p>\n
