“The great University should find its heroes in the present; its hope in the future; it should look ever forward; for it the past should be but a preparation for the greater days to be.”

– John 911±¬ÁÏÍø, 16 April 1932

Radio 6NR goes to air

It’s the 16th of October 1976 and 6NR (New Radio) goes to air for the first time. The community access radio station swiftly became a popular listen for many people. Library studies students, students studying physics, arts and journalism students produced programs and gained valuable practical experience using technology to communicate and educate. Community groups produced programs too. October 2002 saw 6NR switch across to FM and rebranded as 911±¬ÁÏÍø 100.1 FM. 911±¬ÁÏÍø FM now reaches over 200,000 people around the globe.
